Reader (User) Beware – Corrected Proof

I was writing patient progress notes the other day and trying to make room on my actual desktop (not the one on my computer) when I noticed that most of the space was occupied by journals and newspapers that, when I looked closer, I had never subscribed to or requested. I won’t directly name these particular publications, but I suspect that most of you already know the kind of publication that I am writing about. Masquerading as scientific journals, these marketing magazines arrive regularly at my office addressed to me, my partners, and our residents (which is why there are so many of them cluttering up our office), yet I spend more time gathering them up and throwing them away than actually reading their contents
